There’s always something armorial and just a little bit futuristic about Todd Lynn’s pieces, as though the fashion-forward creatures that he’s dressing need protection from the outside world. We'd like to see him costume a sci-fi film one day please, he'd be brilliant.
Anyway, he’s also definitely a man who likes a leather trouser. There were plenty in his autumn show, layered under leather tunics and jackets with funnel necks so high that sometimes the only way that you could distinguish the male models from the girls was by the shoes that they wore (chunky Louboutin shoe boots for the girls and sneakers for the boys, since you ask.)
The cut of his pieces is always perfect, whether it’s the strong shoulder of a paneled jacket or the drape of a mini skirt. He manages to make the most feminine of his pieces, strong dresses, floor-grazing maxis and sexy ribbed sweater dresses, both beautiful and powerful. We loved it - and, judging by the enthusiasm with which she jumped to her feet to applaud, so did Juliette Lewis.
